Southwest Wyoming Regional Airport Modernises Security With Genetec Platform

Genetec Inc. announced that Southwest Wyoming Regional Airport (RKS) has overhauled its physical security operations with the Genetec Security Center platform.

The system was selected during a terminal modernisation to support future expansion, meet evolving Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requirements, and accommodate potential new carriers and routes.

Situated near Rock Springs in Sweetwater County, the airport handles more than 11,000 flight operations and over 50,000 passengers each year. Following completion of a $43 million commercial terminal upgrade, airport leaders sought to replace ageing video surveillance and access control systems with an open, flexible platform that would allow growth without being tied to proprietary technology.

Working with systems integrator Incline Technology, RKS deployed Genetec Security Center to bring video surveillance, access control and alarms together in a single interface.

With Security Center in place, the RKS team now has comprehensive visibility across the terminal, weather station, fuel station and the Sweetwater Aviation facility. This has improved situational awareness, accelerated incident response and streamlined day-to-day security management from one platform.

"Genetec Security Center brings everything into one place, which helps us manage security and airport operations much more efficiently than before. We're only scratching the surface of what the system can do. This is the foundation we needed to keep adding capabilities and enhancing our operations," said Devon Brubaker, Airport Director at Southwest Wyoming Regional Airport.

Airport staff are also using the Quick Search feature in Security Center to speed up investigations and cut the time spent reviewing footage after incidents. After a reported theft in the airport micro market, the team used Quick Search to review footage, identify when the inventory changed, and confirm within minutes that the item had been purchased but mislabeled.
