PlayBox Neo Unveils Security, Workflow And IP Upgrades At IBC 2026

PlayBox Neo To Showcase Major Enhancements To Its Media Platform At Stand 7.C29, 11–14 September, Including Role-Based Access, LDAP/AD Integration, A Faster Multiviewer, SMPTE ST 2110 Support And Expanded EditShare Connectivity.

PlayBox Neo, a long-established provider of media playout, automation and streaming solutions, will debut the latest advances across its PlayBox Neo Suite and integrated product range at IBC 2026 on Stand 7.C29 from 11–14 September.

The company will introduce a raft of upgrades aimed at building more connected, scalable multi-user environments with reinforced security, and will demonstrate how broadcasters and media organisations can run hybrid workflows more efficiently across cloud, IP and on-premises operations.

A key addition is a role-based user management system that lets administrators define access to specific functions and toolsets within the PlayBox Neo Suite. This granular control is designed to strengthen security, improve accountability and increase day-to-day workflow transparency in busy production settings with multiple editors and engineers working concurrently.

PlayBox Neo now also integrates with Active Directory via LDAP with SSL encryption, enabling companies to manage user logins and permissions through their existing IT infrastructure rather than maintaining separate credentials. Benefits include simplified user administration, alignment with enterprise IT standards and tighter security as broadcast operations become part of larger corporate networks.

A new streaming multiviewer user interface delivers much faster load times, a resizable preview window for higher resolutions and high-performance rendering. Optimisation of the PlayBox Neo Multiviewer reduces bandwidth usage to 30%, improving stability for remote and cloud-based teams where bandwidth is constrained or costly, while helping deliver more reliable monitoring, quicker responses and lower operational overheads.

Support for EditShare has been expanded for collaborative editing, including shared storage and media asset management. The integration ensures media is consistently identified and tracked across systems such as playout servers, newsroom software and automation platforms.

Ingest workflows have been streamlined so media is automatically registered and made available for editing while recording is in progress, cutting turnaround times for live news and sports. Once ingest is complete, content is automatically registered in EditShare; where proxy creation is configured, the proxy is also registered, making both assets available within seconds of ingest finishing.

PlayBox Neo now supports the AJA KONA IP25 IP converter card, adding compatibility with SMPTE ST 2110 for integration into next-generation broadcast environments, delivering high-quality, low-latency video with greater flexibility. Support for SMPTE ST 2022-7 further boosts reliability by ensuring uninterrupted signal delivery in the event of network issues.

The Input Time Delay feature allows any PlayBox Neo Suite input to be delayed multiple times, starting from 1 second and limited only by storage capacity. It records and replays video, audio and ancillary data from the source, with outputs to SDI, NDI, a TS encoder or as Live to AirBox Neo. To reduce storage subsystem usage, the system employs the H.264 intra profile for video compression and a lossless audio encoder for audio, while all SDI VANC/HANC ancillary data is recorded.

Additional updates include a new AirBox Neo plug-in, with the “AirBox Neo Complex” item now controllable through Neo Triggers. New support for both physical and virtual GPI (General Purpose Interface) enables software-based triggers for cloud or automated workflows, increasing flexibility without tying operations to specific hardware configurations.

PlayBox Neo manages the entire workflow from ingest, asset management, graphics creation, titling, subtitling, ad insertion and scheduling through to playout. Its modular technology can be tailored for channels of any scale, from a single terrestrial, satellite or online service to global network transmission across multiple time zones.
