PlayBox Neo To Unveil Workflow, Security And IP Upgrades

News Image
PlayBox Neo will present the newest developments across its PlayBox Neo Suite and integrated broadcast/media solutions at NAB Show 2026, with a strong emphasis on helping broadcasters and media organisations operate more efficiently across hybrid on‑premises, cloud and IP workflows.

The latest release brings advances aimed at boosting security, interoperability and manageability at scale.

Live demonstrations of the updated PlayBox Neo Suite will run throughout the show at booth #N1425. NAB Show 2026 takes place in Las Vegas from 18–22 April.

A headline enhancement is a role‑based user management framework that lets administrators define granular permissions for specific tools and functions. In fast‑paced, multi‑user production settings, this tighter control improves security, accountability and day‑to‑day operational clarity.

Complementing this, PlayBox Neo now integrates with Active Directory via LDAP with SSL encryption, allowing organisations to handle authentication and permissions through existing IT infrastructure rather than separate credentials. This strengthens security, simplifies administration and aligns with enterprise IT standards as broadcast operations increasingly sit within wider corporate networks.

Performance gains are another focus area. The PlayBox Neo Multiviewer has been optimised to cut bandwidth consumption by up to 30%, a notable benefit for remote and cloud workflows where connectivity can be constrained or costly. By reducing data demands without sacrificing video quality, teams can achieve more reliable monitoring, faster responses and lower operational overheads.

On the integration front, PlayBox Neo has expanded support for EditShare, widely used for shared storage, media asset management and collaborative editing. The tighter linkage helps ensure consistent media identification and tracking across newsroom systems, automation and playout servers.

Ingest workflows have also been streamlined. Media can now be registered automatically and made available for editing while recording is in progress, slashing turnaround times and accelerating delivery for live news and sports coverage.

Further updates include support for both physical and virtual GPI (General Purpose Interface). While GPI traditionally connects external hardware triggers such as buttons or control panels, virtual GPI enables software‑based triggers that are well suited to cloud and automated pipelines, giving teams greater flexibility without being locked to specific hardware.

The platform adds compatibility with the AJA KONA IP25 IP converter card, enabling operation within SMPTE ST 2110 environments. Support for SMPTE ST 2022‑7 enhances resilience by providing seamless, uninterrupted signal delivery in the event of network disruptions.

"Everything we're showing at NAB is about helping teams work more efficiently in real-world environments," said Van Duke, Director of U.S. Operations at PlayBox Neo. "Whether that's improving performance, simplifying integration, or strengthening security, it all comes back to making everyday operations smoother."
