Net Insight Unveils Programmable Trust Boundaries

News Image
Net Insight has announced the launch of programmable Trust Boundaries, designed to make live media interconnection predictable as content moves across facilities, networks, and cloud environments.

Integrated into the Open Media Platform and powered by Nimbra Live Intelligence, Trust Boundaries enable automated IP domain interconnection for large-scale live production, representing the next step beyond traditional media gateways.

As live production becomes increasingly distributed, media traffic must traverse multiple operational domains seamlessly. While IP networks provide flexibility, they often lack the inherent controls needed for predictable operation at scale. Trust Boundaries introduce controlled IP demarcation points, transforming interconnection from manual network configuration into a programmable, deterministic process.

"IP networks were designed for flexibility, not predictability," said Damien Nagle, Product Manager at Net Insight. "The real challenge in modern media workflows is controlling live media traffic as it moves between operational domains. Trust Boundaries introduce the controlled limitations that make large-scale IP production predictable and automatable."

Using standards-based open APIs for system integration and orchestration, Trust Boundaries allow automated service provisioning and dynamic control of media endpoints while maintaining low-latency, deterministic performance. Services can be deployed using consistent definitions, ensuring predictable behaviour across networks and endpoints. When operated through Nimbra Live Intelligence, the solution provides centralized visibility and automation across distributed production environments.

As a native part of the Open Media Platform, Trust Boundaries integrate transport, security demarcation, and media adaptation into a unified system optimized for real-time workflows. This enables true IP interconnection between facilities and partner networks without the scaling limitations and complexity of traditional media gateways, supporting a transition toward fully native IP production at scale.

Organisations no longer need to deploy gateways that convert IP media back to SDI for security or interoperability. Trust Boundaries allow direct IP interconnection while maintaining predictable control at domain boundaries and supporting secure, multi-organization interconnection hubs where broadcasters, affiliates, and partners remain fully separated and controlled.

The technology supports all IP-based media formats, including uncompressed and JPEG XS flows, and delivers deterministic performance with up to 800 Gbps capacity per rack unit, enabling high-density interconnection for large-scale IP facilities.
