Enhance Technology expands into IP SAN market with new UltraStor IP hybrid technology

Enhance Technology, a leading supplier of storage systems to the IT industry, is expanding the award-winning UltraStor family of storage systems into the storage area network markets with the introduction of their new UltraStor IP product line.
This move signals the strong commitment by the company to support and service the IT market with full breadth of RAID embedded storage solutions. The company envisioned the new UltraStor IP, the intelligent iSCSI storage system, to be a more affordable alternative than Fibre Channel and provides 10 times faster performance than found in the existing NAS products.
The original UltraStor product line capitalized on Enhance Technology's hybrid storage expertise by combining IDE disk drives with either a SCSI or Fibre Channel host interface. The UltraStor IP utilises newer, faster Serial ATA 3.0Gbp/s disks and is powered by the latest microprocessor to deliver up to 220MB/s over a gigabit ethernet network, enough bandwidth to exceed the demanding requirements of many network-based applications. With UltraStor IP, Enhance has created a product that supports multiple hosts and runs on both the Windows and Mac OS platforms while offering easy configuration and integration into virtually any hardware or software environment.
With the new UltraStor IP, Enhance has incorporated the latest RAID 6 technology and some enterprise features such as Snapshot, providing point-in-time recovery that safeguard accidental deletion, makes the new UltraStor IP an ideal solution for server storage such as Microsoft Exchange & SQL Server, as well as professional storage applications such as disk-to-disk backup, database pools, image acquisition, near line storage, data centers, media & asset management libraries and shared SAN networks.
The UltraStor IP system has dual GbE ports, supporting full iSCSI offload with load-balancing, and fail-over, and one logic volume shared by as many as 16 hosts. Other new features introduced in the UltraStor IP system include MPIO support, S.M.A.R.T. disk monitoring, target authorization via IP address, and Jumbo frame support.
UltraStor IP is available for immediate delivery in the RS8 IP model which has the storage options of 1 Terabyte (TB), 2 TB, 4 TB in a 2U 8-disk rackmount form factor. A 16-disk model, the RS16 IP, will be introduced at the coming Security events, ISC West 2006 Las Vegas, and up to 8TB storage in a single 3U 16-disk model system configuration.
