IBC2017: At The Core Of Global Media And Digital Industry Trends

News Image
With its Digital Tech Hub, Qvest Media is encouraging the exchange of global trends between the media and broadcasting industry at this year's IBC Show.

As a world-leading systems architect and ICT integrator, Qvest Media presents strategic insights and first-hand experience in the areas of cyber security for media, IP for broadcast, managed technology and artificial intelligence.

In addition, the Digital Tech Hub at Qvest Media's stand 3.B40 also gives selected partners such as Wildmoka and Make.TV the opportunity to showcase their state-of-the art digital solutions. To discuss trending topics with leading experts or to learn how Qvest Media's integrated newsroom approach supports media companies in creating effective digital-first workflows, visitors are invited to come to Qvest Media's stand.

Digital-first workflow management for integrated newsrooms, the latest developments in IP for broadcast, artificial intelligence in media applications, cyber security for media and managed technology: Qvest Media's agenda at Europe's leading broadcasting exhibition in Amsterdam highlights global trends from within the media industry. Building upon its high level of fast international growth, Qvest Media is able to access its ever-expanding global network of new locations and partners to provide its customers with future-orientated solutions in the fields of media and technology consulting, systems integration and business support. In 2017, the company has established new, additional locations in Denmark, Spain and France to provide media companies with on-site support and best-in-class solutions in line with local requirements and broadcasting infrastructures. Qvest Media and selected partners from the industry, including Wildmoka and Make.TV, will be presenting their solutions, products and services at Qvest Media's Digital Tech Hub at 3.B40, Hall 3.

Cyber Security – protecting media data in the digital age
As conventional IT security concepts are only partially applicable for broadcasting IT specifications, there is a need for a specialist like Qvest Media with an in-depth understanding of processes, procedures and systems of the broadcasting environment, offering media companies comprehensive cyber security strategies and solutions to assess, detect, monitor, address, prevent and manage risks. In view of converging broadcasting and IT systems and the continuous rise of OTT services, Qvest Media's integrated security concepts for the broadcasting sector compromise all areas of system security: from data centre and cloud security, to malware analysis and protection, BYOD solutions including mobile device management (MDM) and access policy management (ISE) as well as content security. Qvest Media's range of cyber security services help to improve security posture, facilitate compliance and improve operational efficiency. Services compromise three categories, namely Consulting Services, Integration Services and Managed Services, addressing client-specific security requirements and providing comprehensive plans to deliver solutions. At the Digital Tech Hub, cyber security experts from Qvest Media and partners will be sharing insights into the challenges and implications of today's security strategies and be presenting an overview of the company's services provided in the assessment, development and optimisation of IT security concepts based on the company's long-term experience in the fields of broadcasting IT and system workflow management.

Integrated Newsroom – accelerating digital transformation of the media industry
By moving away from separated media production chains and outlets with a low level of integration across production platforms, content, teams, resources and planning, Qvest Media's Integrated Newsroom concept follows a holistic approach. To foster a cross-platform collaboration, a Central Planning Desk steers the entire production and publishing processes for Social, Web, Mobile, Newspaper, TV and Radio. Connected through an integration layer, editors from the Central Planning Desk are enabled to search for and analyse company-wide content by accessing a Content Hub and Media Intelligence System. This also allows to monitor and analyse the story performance of published content including audience metrics and social profiling to increase the commercial benefits from user-specific provision of content and advertisement.

As an already successful realised integrated newsroom, Qvest Media helped Mediacorp – a leading Singapore-based media company – to connect the entire content production, collaboration and distribution departments of their new-build media and broadcasting centre. The companies have been shortlisted for this year's IBC Innovation Award in the category Content Creation for the planning, systems integration, training and commissioning of the new Mediacorp Campus and integrated newsroom. “We are excited to be shortlisted with this extensive project. Mediacorp tore down silos and established closer interoperability across its facilities to accelerate and simplify workflows,” says Konstantin Knauf, Managing Director at Qvest Media Singapore. The winners of the IBC 2017 Innovation Awards will be announced on 17 September in the RAI Auditorium in Amsterdam.

Managed technology – already enabling future technology investments today
Qvest Media supports media organisations with their Managed Technology business unit, which enables them to lower financial risks for future technology investments. Thanks to the rapid evolution of technology and increasingly shorter product life cycles, media companies no longer tie up their financial resources in long-term investments, and instead use pay-as-you-go operating expenses. This enables them to focus their investments on their core business competencies, removing the burdens of selecting, integrating, operating, maintaining and replacing technology. Consequently, Qvest Media's Managed Technology helps to shift CapEx investments to OpEx expenditures within a step-by-step concept. The tailor-made OpEx payment model grows with the organisation's individual needs and enables media companies to remain flexible and agile by adapting or removing services as needed. Qvest Media will be showcasing how media companies can run their business operations at any time and at lower costs; visitors are invited to come and watch Qvest Media's dedicated Managed Technology presentations at the Digital Tech Hub.

Paving the way for an All-IP broadcasting ecosystem
All-IP broadcasting infrastructures will fundamentally change the future of the broadcasting industry. However, the transition to an All-IP environment is still in the preliminary stages, as the industry is still facing a variety of challenges: SMPTE 2110, SDN, NMOS, IP security, compression, resource control, and several more. IP needs to be as reliable and easy as SDI plus adding all the IP advantages. The definition of a commonly recognised IP standard and the seamless interoperability of systems in particular still need to be mastered in order to realise an IP-based future. “The full membership in the AIMS initiative enables us to incorporate gained experience and internal expertise from our current worldwide IP projects into the definition and development of IP standardisation,” says Daniel Url, Managing Director at Qvest Media in Europe. At their Digital Tech Hub, Qvest Media will be showcasing internal expertise, first-hand experience and initial findings from hybrid solutions as well as the successful integration and proven interoperability of IP-based sub-areas within existing broadcasting systems. Resuming first concepts and projects, Qvest Media's expert team will soon present the current evolution status of IP for broadcast and an outlook of the development.

Artificial intelligence system for media content and trend analysis
Qvest Media's Media Intelligence System analyses billions of assets and links data from internal and external media sources in real time. The Media Intelligence System enables media companies such as broadcasters, digital publishers, telecommunications service providers as well as owners of rights and licenses and licensees, to automate an examination of unstructured media data, evaluating content, clustering results in context and linking them with each other. Intelligent applications allow patterns in business models to be identified and trend forecasts to be made. This extraction of knowledge is particularly trendsetting for the broadcasting industry, for example when it comes to next generation TV services and content offerings. At the Digital Tech Hub, Qvest Media will be showcasing how its Media Intelligence System can search for, curate, automatically cluster, track and analyse content from virtually any source.

Make.TV and Wildmoka to partner with Qvest Media at IBC
At this year's IBC, Qvest Media will be opening its Digital Tech Hub for innovative companies to present their latest solutions, projects and new business trends. Thus, Make.TV will give an overview and short demo of client showcases using Make.TV's Live Video Cloud (LVC) which is the only video router in the cloud. The Make.TV LVC lets broadcasters and producers in the fields of News, Sport, eSports and Entertainment acquire and curate an infinite number of live video feeds from mobiles, social media platforms, professional devices and traditional broadcast infrastructure. Using a web-based visual mosaic capable of viewing an infinite number of feeds, video streams can then be easily played out simultaneously to broadcast systems and social media platforms like Facebook Live, YouTube and Twitch.

Demand for digital content is dramatically increasing, both from consumers and from sponsors. At the same time, the digital landscape is constantly evolving with multiple platforms and their specific storytelling as well as engagement and monetisation models. To empower digital teams in overcoming these challenges and make the most of their digital strategy, Wildmoka will present its cloud Content Creation Platform designed to clip, edit and publish to all web, mobile, and social media destinations. Wildmoka has a strong focus on smart workflow automation, to provide editorial with full room for creativity, and enable new user experiences. This includes one-click log & publish and full data-driven clip & publish automation.
