NAB Opens Call For Technical Papers
Proposals are now being accepted for the 2027 NAB Broadcast Engineering and IT (BEIT) Conference, a cornerstone of NAB Show 2027 taking place 4–7 April 2027 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The forum provides a stage for broadcast, media and entertainment technologists to share practical insights and case studies with peers from across the industry.
The BEIT Conference convenes media technologists, broadcast engineers, IT developers, researchers, manufacturers, consultants and technical leaders responsible for the systems that underpin modern media. The programme spans current and emerging technologies across television, radio, streaming, production and distribution, as well as the broader media and IT ecosystem. Accepted papers will also be published in April 2027 in the 'Proceedings of the 2027 NAB BEIT Conference'.
Submissions should align with at least one conference focus area, including:
- Analytics and Measurements
- Audio and Video Technology
- Artificial Intelligence
- Broadcast Radio
- Broadcast Television
- Cybersecurity
- Facility Design — On Premises or Cloud
- Media Workflows
- Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) Using Terrestrial Broadcasting
- Regulatory Issues
- Streaming Media
- Transmission and RF Systems
- Workforce, Training and Knowledge Transfer
Proposals must be submitted online by Friday, 23 October 2026. Incomplete or late submissions will not be considered. Notifications will be issued to accepted presenters by 15 December 2026.
NAB Show is committed to diverse representation and encourages proposals from a wide range of perspectives and backgrounds. Submissions that explain the underlying technologies behind new broadcast products or services will be considered. Note: overtly promotional proposals will not be accepted.
In partnership with the IEEE Broadcast Technology Society (BTS), graduate and undergraduate students (18+) are invited to submit papers aligned with BEIT categories. Student submissions will be reviewed alongside professional papers. The best student paper will be presented during the conference, published in the Proceedings and recognised at the BEIT Opening Session at NAB Show 2027, with travel assistance provided to the winner. The deadline is the same as for BEIT submissions — 23 October 2026.
The 2027 BEIT Conference Committee is chaired by Adam Simpson, director of Emerging Technologies, Graham Media Group. Members include: Jason Kim, senior systems engineer, ONE Media Technologies; Felipe Chavez, chief operating officer, Bustos Media; Mike DePolo, vice president, Engineering and Digital Operations, Urban One; Thomas Edwards, senior manager, Solutions Architecture, AWS; Rebecca Hanson, director general, NABA; Chris Homer, director, Engineering, Scripps Media, Inc.; Anil Kokaram, chair, Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Trinity College; Dave Kolesar, broadcast engineer, WTOP/Hubbard; Geary Morrill, vice president, SBE; Zhulieta Ibisheva, director, Technology, NBCUniversal; Skip Pizzi, senior advisor, PMVG; Marisabel Rodriguez, global services manager, Google Cloud; Steve Shultis, chief technology officer, New York Public Radio; Adam Sharp, president & CEO, National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences; Rebecca Sirmons, general manager, NASA+, NASA; Alan Spindel, president, Radio Club of America; Dean Stoneback, senior director, Engineering and Standards, SCTE; and Thomas True, senior applied engineer, NVIDIA.
