Strong Debut RAJAR Figures For STV Radio

Scotland’s newest and only national commercial radio station has made an impressive start, entering the country's top ten commercial stations as audiences log 1.3 million hours in its first six months on air.

STV Radio has posted its first official RAJAR results since launching in January 2026, drawing 139,000 weekly listeners and delivering 1.3 million hours of listening, placing it among Scotland’s most listened-to commercial stations.

Available on DAB, STV Player and smart speakers, the station is building loyalty fast, with listeners spending more than 9.3 hours a week on average — a strong signal of engagement with its target market.

Aimed at audiences aged 35 and over, the service is resonating strongly, with research showing 84% of its audience falls within that demographic.

Headquartered in Glasgow and with presenters based across Aberdeen, Glasgow, Aviemore and Tayside, STV Radio blends relatable hosts with a distinctly Scottish perspective. Breakfast presenters Ewen Cameron and Cat Harvey — who joined from Greatest Hits Radio — front the station’s flagship morning show.

The playlist spans five decades, and the station has quickly become a destination for celebrated Scottish voices and emerging talent alike, welcoming KT Tunstall, Amy Macdonald, Marti Pellow, Susan Boyle, Hue and Cry, and actors Richard Gadd and Peter Capaldi.

Saturday afternoon programme The STV Radio Football Show, featuring Ewen Cameron and STV sport presenter Ronnie Charters, has proved a hit, spawning a Monday spin-off podcast, a new peak-time TV show each Friday on STV, STV Player and YouTube, and a sold-out live event at Glasgow’s Òran Mór.

Advertiser interest is strong, with a mix of brands already working with broadcaster and streamer STV and others new to the company.

STV Radio's social channels (Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok and YouTube) have delivered almost 20 million video views and 1.5 million engagements since launch, while The STV Radio Football Podcast has amassed 21 million video views across X, Instagram and TikTok (source: Sprout Social, January–July 2026).

Graham Bryce, MD of STV Radio, said: "As a new entrant, STV Radio has quickly established itself in the market and these first official figures are well ahead of our expectations. In just six months, we’ve built a meaningful audience by offering something genuinely different for Scottish listeners – a strong mix of great music, personality-led programming, entertainment, sport and a distinctly Scottish perspective.

"To attract around 139,000 weekly listeners and deliver 1.3 million hours of listening in our first months on air is an incredible result. What's particularly encouraging is the depth of listening we're seeing. Audiences aren't just sampling STV Radio – they’re spending time with us and making us part of their daily routine, spending over 9 hours per week. That tells us we're not just attracting audiences; we're building loyalty.

"Being part of STV gives us a unique advantage. By combining radio with STV’s broader multi-platform reach, we can offer audiences and advertisers a powerful proposition that spans audio, video and digital. These results are a strong foundation, but we're only just getting started!"
