Algerian Radio Uses NETIA Radio-Assist

NETIA has announced that Algerian Radii (RA), Algeria's public radio broadcaster, has expanded its Radio-Assist digital audio software installation to realise a highly automated end-to-end broadcast workflow incorporating media ingest, production, scheduling, playout and archiving.
By automating centralised media archiving for all five Algerian Radio national stations, facilitating the exchange of content among existing regional facilities already equipped with Radio-Assist and streamlining acquisition of wires from various news sources, the Radio-Assist implementation enables more efficient creation and delivery of French and Arabic-language news and other programming to more than 20 million listeners in Algeria.
Hidougui Salah, Director of Technical Services and Equipment at Algerian Radio, said: "Timely news broadcasts are a very important part of the services that we offer to our listeners and the further build out of our Radio-Assist software systems brings even greater efficiency to individual station operations, as well as improved collaborative capabilities among the different contributors to the news production workflow.
"The highly automated workflow we now enjoy, as well as the benefits of a convenient centralised archive, give journalists the time and tools they need to deliver quality news quickly."
Algerian Radio had already equipped 15 regional stations with NETIA's Radio-Assist architecture, including Air-DDO broadcast modules and servers and the DBShare data security module, to streamline the entire production workflow and to establish the functionality necessary to exchange content securely and efficiently with other sites and remote databases. The new expansion of Radio-Assist at Algerian Radio includes implementation of NETIA's Script Office module, a dispatch-processing module that keeps journalists close to information sources.
Automating acquisition of newswire content from APS (Algeria Press Service) as it arrives at Algerian Radio facilities, Script Office provides filtering and display of multilingual wire feeds and facilitates fast, easy review of available content.
Multiple users can make simultaneous text edits to individual wire stories, add sound elements via simple drag-and-drop controls, and make finished stories available for broadcast within minutes. NETIA's Feder All Desk, also a Radio-Assist module, gives journalists shared and secure access to the on-air playlist for management of news playout.
Mustapha Rezzoug, Product Director at NETIA, said: "Addressing the production and broadcast workflow from end to end, Radio-Assist adds efficiencies across Algerian Radio operations. By sharing a common archiving system across the five national stations, Algerian Radio has not only optimised its infrastructure, but also improved its level of service by giving all users easier access to media assets within a much faster production workflow."
Additionally, by using a mobile platform equipped with Radio-Assist, Algerian Radio can also take this workflow outside the studio, maintaining streamlined operations from production to playout even during remote live-event coverage such as trade shows, cultural or sporting events.
