PROTOCOL TESTER COMPLIES WITH BLUETOOTH SPECIFICATIONS

THE PROTOCOL Tester PTW60 from Rohde & Schwarz now offers more than 100 verified test cases that comply with the latest version of the Bluetooth specification.
The PTW60 is the first instrument worldwide to implement the test vectors currently specified by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) in such a large number of test cases.
The test cases are part of the prescribed qualification program that each product must pass before it can be brought onto the market with the Bluetooth label. By providing test cases based on the SIG specifications, the PTW60 brings Bluetooth products an essential step closer to qualification. Since own tests can be written with the PTW60, the tester is ideal for the development of Bluetooth products.
In July of this year, the Bluetooth SIG issued test vectors in compliance with the current version of Bluetooth Specification 1.1. The test vectors describe the test cases used for testing a Bluetooth product.
With the current Release 5.0, the PTW60 offers test cases for the protocol layers Baseband, Link Manager, L2CAP, Service Discovery Protocol and Generic Access Profile defined by the SIG.
Signalling characteristics, link establishment, link disconnection and data transfer in the master or slave modes are tested. With the aid of a simple tool, the user can individually combine the test cases and repeat them as required. Since all the protocol layers including Baseband and Link Manager are implemented by Rohde & Schwarz as software, the PTW60 can be flexibly adapted to differing requirements. It is suitable for all manufacturers of Bluetooth chip sets, protocol software and final products as well as for test houses and can be easily adapted to future versions of the Since user-specific test cases can be prepared with the PTW60 in TTCN programming language, the tester is optimally suited for the development and optimisation of Bluetooth products. The user can also implement test scripts using C or C++. C libraries function as programming interfaces which provide simple and bit-accurate implementation. (CD)
