Nordisk FilmTV Agrees Deal With Mexiko

Banijay Group’s Nordisk FilmTV has signed an output deal with Mexiko, the new content company created by the partnership of Lars Beckung, Mikael Svensson, Filip Hammar and Fredrik Wikingsson in Sweden.
Mexiko CEO Beckung is a former programme director at Sweden’s Channel 5 and prior to that an on-air presenter.
Svensson, the company’s Creative Director, is formerly CEO of production company Stockholm-Copenhagen and has produced numerous shows, including several hosted by Filip & Frederik, a well-known popular comedic duo and current presenters at Channel 5.
Within the agreement, Nordisk FilmTV will be the exclusive production partner across Scandinavia for Mexiko shows, with the remit of pitching and producing current and newly devised series by the company to broadcasters throughout the Nordic region.
Since its launch in October 2012, Mexiko has already sold a number of shows to local Swedish broadcasters, including innovative celebrity interview series Elevator, in which Filip and Frederik interview stars in a lift, which recently finished its first season run on Channel 5.
Peter Hansen CCO, Nordisk FilmTV, said: "Mexiko is a new and innovative player in the Swedish market and with our old friend Lars Beckung and Swedish entertainment icons Filip & Frederik at the helm we think it has an exciting future. The shows they are developing are a great fit with Nordisk Film TV’s DNA and we are proud to be Mexiko’s partner in Norway, Finland and Denmark."
Lars Beckung said: "Since Mexiko’s launch in October and with Mikael, Filip and Frederik joining at the start of this year we have been working out the best way for us to operate going forward. We believe that joining up with Nordisk will immediately give us access to their highly skilled production experience and wide contacts which will enable us to concentrate on our creativity and developing ideas for both domestic and international formats. We’ve all worked with the team at Nordisk on many occasions and know we will be in safe and strong hands as our new company grows."
