Nordisk Film ShortCut Selects Digital Vision For Traditional And Software-Based Noise Reduction

Digital Vision, a leading developer of advanced digital media applications specialising in film and video solutions, has announced that Nordisk Film ShortCut, one of most innovative post houses in Scandinavia, has purchased a DVNR SD/HD Image Processing and Restoration system, DVO Image Processing Software and a Nucoda Data Conform system for its facility based in Copenhagen, Denmark.
A Digital Vision advocate since the 1980s, Nordisk Film ShortCut has recently begun using the DVNR to work alongside its Spirit Scanner and Da Vinci 2k Plus colour corrector and is currently being used to remove grain from Danish and Norwegian feature films.
Ivan Schmidt, CTO Nordisk Film ShortCut, commented: ”The DVNR, which we are the using for feature films and commercials, is the best noise reducer on the market and perfect for our workflow. When scanning 16mm film the DVNR allows us to remove grain. When scanning overexposed negative the DVNR removes flicker in the highlights.”
The DVO Image processing Software will be used to remove artefacts from 2k DPX files scanned through ShortCuts Arri Scan film scanner. Digital Vision’s Nucoda Data Conform system onlines directly from the facility’s SAN disc system.
Robert Ekström, President of Digital Vision added: “We are delighted to announce our continued relationship with Nordisk Film ShortCut, which is an extremely well respected facility throughout Europe. DVNR provides the industry standard in noise reduction and is being used everyday in facilities worldwide. The DVNR together with its software counterpart, DVO gives Nordisk Film ShortCut a complete state-of-the art system for a spectrum of projects ranging from feature films to commercials.” (CD)
