TMD chosen by Ascent Media Network to supply media workflow system for five

TMD Ltd has won a major contract to supply and implement its Mediaflex Media Asset Management and Workflow system for Ascent Media Network Services Europe (AMNSE); the system will be used to handle all the media for network broadcaster five.
Stuart Sargeant, Technology Manager at AMNSE, said: “We have been responsible for managing all of five’s media using a number of different systems. We have recently renewed and extended the contract between five and AMNSE, and were keen as part of our continuing relationship to put in place a single solution to handle all the media requirements which would also, most importantly, be able to support the transition from physical media to a digital file based environment.
“We looked at about ten different systems but were impressed by the Mediaflex solution for a number of reasons. The breadth of the product meant that it would be able to handle the majority of our needs without requiring major customisation, and its ability to handle both tape-based and file-based media was critical to our choice of Mediaflex.”
Work has commenced on the project and the Mediaflex solution for AMNSE and five will go live on July 1. It will also interface to five’s existing Pro-Bel automation system as well as to their internal corporate scheduling system.
Sargeant continued: “Once the Mediaflex system is up and running, we will be able to take a snapshot of our entire workload, see where specific items of work are in the workflow process and ensure that the correct resources are available.
"This will be the first time that we have been able to do this, and I believe that this ability will significantly benefit the smooth and efficient handling not only of the media, but also of our service for five.”
