EVS Launches XT-S Software-Defined Server Platform

News Image
EVS has launched XT-S, a new software-defined multi-application server platform designed to give live production teams greater flexibility in deploying and evolving their infrastructure.

The new platform joins EVS's LiveCeption portfolio alongside the company’s XT-VIA server. Rather than being dedicated to a single production application, XT-S provides a common platform capable of running multiple applications, allowing production teams to deploy capabilities according to their operational requirements and adapt them as those requirements change.

XT-S is making its debut at IBC2026 in Amsterdam, initially supporting LiveCeption replay and UHD zoom. First deliveries are planned for early 2027, with additional applications expected to be introduced over time.

The approach is intended to allow customers to expand the capabilities of their infrastructure without requiring a new purpose-built server for every workflow.

Among the platform’s early adopters are Game Creek Video and AMP VISUAL TV, which are using XT-S in different production environments.

Game Creek Video has deployed the XT-S zoom capability across multiple sports productions, while AMP VISUAL TV is adding XT-S replay to its existing fleet of EVS XT-VIA servers.

For production service providers working across different events, customers and production formats, the common platform is designed to simplify infrastructure while making it easier to deploy production capabilities where they are required.

XT-S is built on patented EVS technology and uses modern CPU and GPU processing to allow its capabilities to evolve through software. The architecture is also designed to provide greater flexibility in deployment, resource allocation and lifecycle management.

Modern APIs and interoperability features support integration with connected production environments, while security is incorporated into the platform architecture to help protect production operations and data integrity.

The launch forms part of EVS’s wider move towards a software-defined and converged live production ecosystem. The company says XT-S provides customers with another option for modernising their infrastructure while retaining established production workflows and existing investments.

With replay and UHD zoom available initially, the platform is expected to expand its application range as EVS adds further software capabilities.
