BCE Selects Alpha Networks' Gecko Platform
BCE has selected Alpha Networks' Gecko OTT platform as a technology component for integration into its end-to-end media services, with the platform now being deployed as part of an OTT service.
The selection follows an evaluation of Gecko against the technical and operational requirements defined by BCE for the project.
Gecko is a modular, scalable and multi-tenant OTT platform designed to support multiple services and brands from a common technology environment. It allows individual configurations for content, users, rights and workflows while supporting separate service operations.
BCE will use the platform as part of its wider media ecosystem, connecting workflows across the media supply chain and integrating OTT capabilities with other elements of its end-to-end media services. The approach is intended to give BCE flexibility to adapt its overall architecture to different customer requirements, use cases and service models.
The platform supports live, replay and on-demand video across web, mobile and connected TV devices. It also supports advertising- and subscription-based monetisation models, including AVOD, SVOD, TVOD and hybrid approaches.
Gecko's API-driven architecture enables integration with wider media delivery systems, including content management, advertising, analytics, playout, CDN and identity platforms.
The technology will be demonstrated at IBC 2026 at both the Alpha Networks booth, Hall 1, Stand F72, and the BCE booth, Hall 1, Stand C16.
At the event, BCE will also demonstrate how it designs, integrates and operates media workflows across the media supply chain, covering areas from content management and preparation through to distribution, supported by infrastructure, applications and managed services.
The Gecko deployment forms part of BCE's broader focus at IBC 2026 on scalable and secure media operations, while demonstrating how OTT technology can be integrated into wider media delivery environments.
