Ascent Media Network Services appoint head of consulting services arm

Ascent Media Network Services (AMNS) has announced the creation of a strategic consulting practice to augment its global Systems & Technology Services offerings.
Steve France, most recently of BBC Technology, will lead the new unit as Vice President, Consulting Services based out of Ascent Media’s Stephen Street headquarters in London.
France will direct a group of professional consultants, technologists and analysts to provide a wide range of electronic media consulting disciplines for content owners and providers. Among these are: digital workflow, including media asset management, security, rights and people-oriented change management, as well as emerging delivery platforms including mobile and IPTV.
This initiative is part of Ascent Media’s continued objective to provide thought leadership for its clients, and help them meet the demands of the highly paced migration to newer and better ways of delivering content to their end users.
"In this specialized field, there is no such thing as an off-the-shelf solution," said France. "Ascent Media is ideally positioned to leverage its renowned technical, operational and business resources to provide a 'leading light' of thought leadership in the electronic media industry."
As content providers now must manage multiple channels across multiple distribution platforms–the complexity of which is magnified by regulatory changes such as DTT and HDTV–the right planning to achieve workflow efficiencies and cost savings have become even more critical.
France brings to AMNS over 18 years experience in technology and media companies, as well as significant international exposure. France's previous role was in BBC Technology's consultancy practice, and included staff and budget management, as well as direct responsibilities for quality of work and client satisfaction.
With AMNS, France's tasks will include helping to define and continually re-define the evolving value propositions for the consulting group based on industry and client input.
