Vivaro Delivers Record World Cup Coverage
Appear ASA has announced that Vivaro used its X20 Platform during the 2026 FIFA World Cup to run robust live video workflows spanning linear television and large-scale streaming.
The single, modular, high-capacity system let Vivaro address differing bandwidth, latency and quality needs for a mission-critical tournament.
Vivaro supported broadcasters and sports streaming services in Canada, USA, Portugal, Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador and Argentina across all 104 fixtures.
The deployment processed and transported feeds using High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) and JPEG XS, and delivered linear feeds for customers over SRT. HEVC enabled bandwidth-efficient delivery, while JPEG XS provided high-quality contribution at sub-frame latency. Hosting both codecs within one platform allowed Vivaro to align performance and operational requirements per customer without additional technology stacks or workflow complexity.
"We supported many customers with very different delivery requirements, from national linear television to digital audiences in HD and 4K, that could rise by millions around a single match," said Daniel González, CEO of Vivaro. "For an event of this scale, live feeds simply cannot fail. Appear's X20 gave our teams the capacity, resilience and low-latency performance to manage both workflows through a single platform, maintaining consistent quality from the opening match to the final."
The X20 Platform's modular design consolidated high-capacity processing and transport into a compact footprint, simplifying control and service management while giving Vivaro the flexibility to configure each workflow to individual customer needs.
The investment also gives Vivaro reusable infrastructure for future premium sports coverage, allowing the company to adapt and repurpose the X20 as requirements, production formats and delivery models evolve.
