PlayBox Neo to Debut Workflow Enhancements at Broadcast Asia
At the upcoming Broadcast Asia show in Singapore, PlayBox Neo will showcase a suite of innovations designed to streamline complex, multi-user media operations across on-premises and cloud workflows. The latest updates to the PlayBox Neo Suite emphasize enhanced security through role-based user management and Active Directory integration, alongside significant performance gains such as a 70% reduction in Multiviewer bandwidth usage. These advancements, coupled with expanded support for EditShare and high-performance IP converter cards, aim to provide broadcasters with greater agility and stability in demanding live production and news environments.
A significant upgrade includes the role-based user management system, allowing administrators to define access to specific functions and toolsets within the PlayBox Neo Suite platform. This additional feature helps improve security, accountability, and daily workflow transparency in demanding production settings where multiple users, editors, and engineers operate at the same time.
Furthermore, PlayBox Neo now supports integration with Active Directory via LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) with SSL encryption which enables organisations to manage user logins and permissions through their existing IT systems, rather than maintaining separate credentials. The benefits include simplified user management, alignment with enterprise-level IT standards, reinforced security, ever more vital as broadcast operations become part of bigger corporate networks.
Performance improvements include the optimisation of the PlayBox Neo Multiviewer reducing bandwidth usage to 30% which impacts teams working in remote production or cloud environments, where bandwidth can be limited or costly. By lowering data demands without compromising video quality, the system enables more stable monitoring, faster response times, and lower operational overhead.
PlayBox Neo has expanded support for EditShare, the widely used platform for collaborative editing as well as shared storage and media asset management. This integration ensures media files are constantly identified and tracked across various systems that include playout servers, newsroom software, and automation.
Operations have been further streamlined owing to enhancements to the PlayBox Neo ingest workflow. Media can now be automatically registered and made available for editing while being recorded, rather than waiting until the process is complete. This significantly reduces turnaround time, allowing teams to edit, produce, and deliver content much faster which is critical for the sports coverage and live news.
Other additional updates involve support for physical and virtual GPI (General Purpose Interface). Traditionally, GPI allows external hardware, such as control panels to trigger actions within a broadcast system. By also supporting virtual GPI, PlayBox Neo enables these triggers to be handled through software, making it easier to integrate with cloud-based or automated workflows. This added flexibility helps organisations adapt without being tied to specific hardware set-ups.
PlayBox Neo now supports the AJA KONA IP25 IP converter card, enabling compatibility with SMPTE ST 2110. This upgrade positions PlayBox Neo for seamless integration into next-generation broadcast environments, delivering high-quality, low-latency video with greater flexibility. Support for SMPTE ST 2022-7 further enhances reliability by ensuring uninterrupted signal delivery, even in the event of network issues.
PlayBox Neo solutions are based on modular products and services which can be easily customised to provide the exact capability needed for any scale of channel playout management - from ingest and scheduling through to transmission.
"We look forward to meeting up with industry professionals in Singapore again this month, after a highly successful NAB Show in Las Vegas. PlayBox Neo technology is designed around our customer's needs, and we continue to work on enhancing our offering to provide leading-edge solutions that transform businesses to work efficiently in varying and complex media settings," noted PlayBox Neo CEO and founder Pavlin Rahnev, "Designed for maximum flexibility, our products deliver seamless, high-performance broadcast operations by simplifying integration, boosting security, and making workflows easier at all levels."
