Net Insight Unveils Nimbra 520 Media Processing Node
Net Insight has introduced the Nimbra 520, a high-density media processing node designed to simplify live contribution and distribution across both managed and unmanaged networks, at the NAB Show 2026.
The launch comes as broadcasters and service providers face growing pressure from increasing numbers of feeds, venues, and cloud connections, all while maintaining reliable performance and managing operational costs.
Built as part of Net Insight's Nimbra Live execution layer, the Nimbra 520 is designed to deliver consistent, deterministic performance across hybrid live media environments where operational simplicity, cost control, and reliability are critical.
The platform also extends the company's Live Intelligence approach into live media execution. Instead of focusing on optimizing individual devices, the Nimbra 520 is designed to provide measurable performance across real-world networks, helping operators remain in control during peak events, network failures, congestion, and rapidly changing production demands.
With support for multi-channel HEVC and AVC encoding, the system enables up to 50 percent bandwidth savings compared to legacy workflows. This allows broadcasters and service providers to scale contribution and distribution capacity without expanding existing network infrastructure.
The company said the platform is intended to improve the economics of live media operations. When used alongside Nimbra Edge, it supports a per-stream cost model, centralized orchestration, and automated lifecycle management. These capabilities help reduce operational overhead, prevent over-provisioning, and minimize the operational impact of potential network failures.
The Nimbra 520 supports a range of deployment scenarios, including unmanaged internet contribution, hybrid cloud workflows, and fully managed IP networks. In managed environments, it integrates with Net Insight’s broader platform-based operations, while in unmanaged environments it maintains predictable performance through Edge-orchestrated workflows.
"Live media operations must scale without driving complexity or cost," said Andreas Eriksson, CEO of Net Insight. "With Nimbra 520, we extend our Live Intelligence architecture into a simpler, more flexible execution layer, giving customers predictable performance and lower cost per stream."
According to the company, the Nimbra 520 includes multi-channel HEVC and AVC processing designed for professional broadcast workflows, supporting UHD production, 10-bit video, and low-latency operation. Its high-density architecture is intended to deliver significant bandwidth and infrastructure savings while maintaining predictable performance across both managed and unmanaged IP networks.
