Radio Santa María De Toledo Upgrades Broadcast Infrastructure With AEQ

News Image
Radio Santa María de Toledo, founded in 1993 to promote the gospel and Church life, has long been a local reference point with a mix of religious content, local news, and cultural and musical programmes.

After more than three decades operating from its former base, the station has moved into refurbished premises and refreshed key technical systems.

As part of the modernisation, Radio Santa María commissioned AEQ to implement a Dante-based audio-over-IP network, overseen by a NetBox 32 MX matrix for scalable, flexible multi‑channel routing. The installation also includes three Forum IP consoles suited to on‑air operations, thanks to their modular design, parametric equalisers, filters, dynamics, and up to 32 mix buses for programme, auxiliary or clean feeds.

A compact Capitol IP console with 100 mm faders and AoIP connectivity for up to 32 channels has been added for space‑constrained studios, alongside a Systel IP 16 system offering IP calling and conferencing with 16 simultaneous VoIP lines, Dante/AES‑67 integration and scalability to link multiple studios. Previously deployed audio codecs remain in service, maintaining high‑quality communications via IP protocol compatibility, low latency and remote control.

As detailed by its technical director, Francisco Requena: "After 32 years broadcasting from the same location, Radio Santa María de Toledo and Canal Diocesano de TV have moved their facilities to a new headquarters, updating and renovating equipment for both radio and TV. Thanks to the technical and human support of AEQ, since radio broadcasts began in 1993, a DANTE network has been installed that allows radio and television to be interconnected with the same audio signal, facilitating all audio traffic between different radio and TV studios. All of this is managed from the NETBOX 32 MX matrix, in addition to installing two FORUM IP mixers for radio continuity and production with 18 and 12 faders respectively, another FORUM IP mixer for TV production control, and a CAPITOL IP mixer in the central TV continuity control room. The installation is completed by a Systel IP 16 to manage telephony together with the Venus-3, Alio, and Mercury IP codecs that were already in place. Thanks to all this, Radio Santa María de Toledo and Canal Diocesano de TV are facing a new and exciting stage with significant technical improvements, with the support of the Archbishopric of Toledo, the professionals who make up the staff, and the companies that provide service and technical support."

The new infrastructure is intended to streamline workflows across radio and television, unify audio paths and expand production capacity. Project coordination and on‑site deployment were handled by AEQ sales representative Bernardo Saiz, whose technical supervision helped tailor the solution to the station's needs and ensured a smooth transition.

With this upgrade, Radio Santa María de Toledo underlines its commitment to broadcast quality and audience service, strengthening its role as a local benchmark for information, culture and religious programming, with backing from the Archbishopric of Toledo, its professional team and technical partners.
