AEQ Capitol IP Plus Chosen For Hospital Radio Basingstoke Studio Upgrade

Hospital Radio Basingstoke (HRB), the station linked to Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital, has modernised its on-air studio with the AEQ CAPITOL IP PLUS digital mixing console.

The installation, delivered by AEQ's UK distributor Broadcast Radio, places AEQ technology at the centre of the station’s refreshed broadcast chain.

HRB runs a 24-hour service aimed chiefly at patients, featuring request-led programming that is a hallmark of hospital radio. Since 2023 the station has also been available on DAB digital radio, complementing its online streams via its website and other internet radio platforms.

With the upgrade complete, AEQ CAPITOL IP PLUS now functions as the hub of the audio system, handling signal management across the facility. The desk was selected to match HRB's operational needs, offering reliable performance, high-quality digital sound and user-friendly operation.

The CAPITOL IP PLUS is a compact digital mixer equipped with 10 physical faders and 12 virtual faders for flexible control. Its architecture includes an IP connectivity module providing 16 input and 16 output channels, while a touchscreen enables intuitive control of key functions.

Connectivity is extensive to fit varied studio setups: four mic/line inputs, twelve analogue inputs, four AES/EBU (AES3) stereo digital inputs and two USB stereo digital connections. Optional enhancements include two telephone lines, multichannel digital audio links, 16 channels of Audio over IP (AoIP) via two Ethernet connections, or 64 MADI channels over fibre optic.
