ContentAgent For 422.tv

'Insert Edit' feature facilitates last-minute changes to broadcast deliverables.

Full service postproduction facility 422.tv in Glasgow has installed ContentAgent to automate the transcoding, QC and delivery of its AS-11 UK DPP broadcast deliverables.

With a mix of work ranging from DCP packages for films to critically acclaimed TV shows, 422.tv set out to investigate the most efficient way to address the DPP file delivery standard adopted by UK broadcasters in October 2014.

"We visited IBC," explains Facility Head Sharon Fullarton, "to look at available solutions. We pay a great deal of attention to our technology infrastructure to ensure clients have the smoothest path through postproduction.

"So when Alex Keane from root6 Scotland introduced us to ContentAgent we were impressed with the workflow automation tools and the integration with Vidchecker for QC. What interested us most though, was the ability ContentAgent gave us to make speedy last-minute changes to files against tight transmission deadlines – it's a problem everyone encounters."

Brian Stevenson, Technical Manager at 422.tv takes up the story.

"The Insert Edit function is a real time-saver. One of the concerns around file-based delivery is the time involved in re-wrapping or transcoding an entire file following last-minute changes or repairs. Any AS-11 file created with ContentAgent can have frame-accurate fixes to video or audio essences dropped in very easily – it takes only a few seconds."

ContentAgent's integration with Vidchecker, the popular auto-QC and correction software, is another feature in constant use. "We can save a lot of man-hours," maintains Stevenson. "We can queue up jobs to be processed – out of normal working hours if necessary – and we can rely on the system to produce consistent and accurate results."

Most recently, 422.tv used ContentAgent to deliver two high profile shows: 'The Day Hitler Died', a Finestripe Production for the Smithsonian Channel and ITV and 'Eve', a 13-part series from Leopard Drama for CBBC.
