ContentAgent-XR transcoder captures tranglobal post-production facility orders

ContentAgent-XR, the new high performance encoding platform launched by Root6 Technology with Microsoft at NAB has captured the imagination of the international post-production community resulting in the first tranche of orders for the new product.
Leading Soho facility Lip Sync Post was first off the blocks as Chief Engineer Rick White explained: “We have been using the SD version of ContentAgent for more than 18 months and we’re snowed under with encoding work – primarily to DVD where we author a significant number of viewing copies for production staff and for subtitles checking on foreign versions. XR is a boon for us as, not only will a second system relieve the current workload, the new technology opens the door to high resolution file formats. We’ll certainly be taking advantage of its HD coding capabilities.”
Also in London, Metro Broadcast has ordered an XR which will be put to a multitude of uses. “It’s a great general-purpose encoding workhorse,” said Media and Operations Manager Richard Baker. “We’ll be using it on a variety of internal encoding projects and for Video on Demand and streaming.”
Across the globe in Australia, re-seller Digistor which has carved a niche as a leader in the supply of digital storage solutions, has ordered ContentAgent-XR to complement its existing product portfolio. Managing Director Andrew Mooney is convinced the product will have huge appeal down under where digital television first surfaced in 2001 and, currently, more than 50 shows in any given week are transmitted in HD. “It’s really a no-brainer,” said Mooney. “The HD and film resolution transcoding capabilities of XR are simply unmatched; it’s going to be a ‘must-have’ technology for many of our clients.”
In Paris, Mikros Image is to install its second ContentAgent, this time an XR, citing increased demand and HD upgrade path as the major reasons for purchase. Both systems were supplied through French re-seller CTM.
Recently appointed ContentAgent-XR International Channel Manager, Dan Germain commented: “Industry response has been fantastic. We live in a world where improvement in productivity is key to commercial success so it’s no wonder the product has been enthusiastically received.”
