New Features For ContentAgent To Be Unveiled

ContentAgent, the universal file-based workflow automation and transcoding tool from ROOT6 Technology, will be shown at IBC (Stand 7.E21) with the latest V3.3 software that delivers further new features and accelerated performance to streamline all aspects of file-based operations.
As part of an automated ingest system, ContentAgent now supports P2, XDCAM, XDCAM EX, AVC-HD and Canon XF card structures from broadcast cameras. Media and metadata are copied from a Watch Folder and MD5 checksums run to assess data integrity. The media is then transcoded (or rewrapped for greater efficiency) and imported into the post production workflow together with associated metadata. With ContentAgent's support of Avid web services for Interplay and standalone Media Composer environments, the system facilitates advanced media management from card-based material and consequently is the preferred ingest technology for Avid solutions. If required, the transcoded media can now be made available as a single clip. Go Pro media is also supported with multi frame rate capability and timecode generation.
New JPEG2000 encoding with MXF OP1a wrapping provides a valuable tool for those in broadcast and archive environments.
The suite of colour mapping tools now available in ContentAgent enables LUTs to be applied to files in any format - a benefit when moving between different colour spaces. Additionally, gamma level adjustment is provided and, in a RED environment, RED RMD colour grade files may be applied to RED R3D clips.
The Advanced Frame Rate Converter option, first showcased at IBC 2012 and now shipping, has already been installed at a number of locations including BBC Sports at MediaCity. The new option replaces expensive legacy hardware-based workflows that contain costly trips to/from baseband for standards and format conversions. Created specifically for file-based workflows and utilising powerful CPU and GPU processing, the new tool facilitates not only traditional PAL/NTSC conversions, but expands across all frame rates, deals with field order/progressive/cadence issues and scales across all resolutions to 4K.
A fully automated AMWA AS-11 DPP workflow for broadcast file and metadata deliverables is now available for ContentAgent and will be shown at IBC. Automated file-based QC from Tektronix Cerify, Vidcheck's Vidchecker or Interra Systems' Baton may be incorporated, if desired.
ContentAgent has been designed from the ground up to be integrated with 'best of breed' third party technologies. The new software release facilitates integration with Focal Point Server, a collaborative project-based management system. ContentAgent may also be used to harness the advantages of other third party technologies including Telestream, Digital Rapids (transcoding) and Rimage (disc publishing.)
In a private demo area, IBC attendees can get a peek at some new technology under development. Here, ContentAgent will be demonstrated in a live Cloud/VM environment showing infinitely scalable cloud-based rendering. Depending on the volume of work, remote Job Agents -- affordable render accelerators may be switched on or off directly from the Jobs tab in the User Interface.
