Root6 Technology Announce New Orders For ContentAgent Transcoder System

Root6 Technology have announced a number of new sales for ContentAgent, the company’s SD and HD universal transcoding platform.
In Vancouver, Canada, an HD ContentAgent has been installed by leading telecomms company Telus, to transcode VOD content for a new service, Telus TV. Connected to a Terrablock Storage Area Network, the system was supplied by Canadian re-seller Acura Technology Group.
Silverglade, one of the UK’s longest-established post facilities based in London’s South Bank, has recently incorporated ContentAgent within its Avid-based editing environment.
“We bought it to reduce the enormous effort and time in translating new forms of video content into media readable by Avid for programme making,” said Silverglade founder Charles Frater. “The reverse also applies, since we are now being increasingly asked to prepare media for distribution via the internet. And, because the designers of Content Agent have really thought about it, we can access client material from our Terrablock SAN and produce DVDs for production viewings even while editing continues. Magical stuff which continues to develop and get better.”
Also in London, two ContentAgents have been delivered to Technicolor Content Services with another to the BBC.
In Galway, The National University of Ireland is using its recently acquired ContentAgent to help preserve the Irish language in a programme to encode the last 10 years of TV channel output from Teilifis Gaeilge 4.
Gaurav Digital, established since 1997, is one of India’s most prestigious film mixing facilities based in ‘Bollywood’ capital, Mumbai. The company has recently ordered ContentAgent for imminent installation.
Further recent sales have also been made in France, Germany, Hungary, Sweden and the US where Turner Broadcasting in Atlanta are now enjoying the benefits of the system’s ease of use.
Ken Brady, Director of Technical Operations, confirmed: “We had the need to create quickly authored DVDs for client presentations and approvals. The ContentAgent encoding platform was far and away the simplest tool to operate yet offered exactly the features we needed.”
