TV Set turns to ContentAgent digital media delivery system

Soho’s TV Set is the latest postproduction facility to install ContentAgent, the versatile platform for the capture, playback, encoding and delivery of digital media from root6 Technology.
Previously, the encoding capabilities of the company’s NLE systems had been used to create MPEG versions of material but, as demand increased, TV Set sought a dedicated solution.
“We wanted faster throughput with high quality,” explained TV Set’s Operations Manager Mark Phillips. “ContentAgent fits the bill admirably. It’s used mainly for MPEG encoding, ftp uploads and DVD burning - where the simple ‘one-click’ operation is a real bonus. Another benefit is that our technical staff can set up client templates for non-technical operators to work with, enabling individual customers’ requirements to be fully automated.”
TV Set is part of The Television Set group which also includes Arena P3 and London Post. Established for more than 15 years and specialising in Telecine, tape-to-tape transfers, grading, standards conversion and DVD production, TV Set recently added real-time film restoration, investing in Archangel and Scratchbox technologies.
“Restoration is another area in which ContentAgent will be advantageous, as our clients can use MPEG versions for review and approval,” said Phillips.
root6 Technology is the new product development arm of London, UK reseller root6. The company has specific expertise in digital video, d-cinema and mobile communications technologies.
