Clever Media top the bill at IVCA Awards

At the 2003 International Visual Communication Association (IVCA) Awards, held on Friday 28 March 2003, Clever Media won both of the top awards, the Gold Industry Award for Effective Communication and the Grand Prix, awarded by a distinguished panel of judges to the best of the year’s Gold Award winners.
The awards were presented to Clever Media for their video, ‘Get On’, produced for the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) as part of the Government’s drive to improve adult literacy and numeracy. It was produced by Elise Abramson and directed by Patrick Veale and features compelling testimonies from individuals whose lives have been changed by recognising and tackling shortcomings in literacy and/or numeracy in adulthood.
In their citation, the Grand Prix judges described the video as “a confident, and highly effective programme which displays technical excellence, and the imaginative use of unselfconscious testimonials, in its coherent and entirely appropriate address to a broad age range within its target audience.”
The judges of the Industry Award for Effective Communication praised the “strategically thought through and integrated campaign” and noted that the efficacy of the video was proven by thorough research: “The team clearly set themselves challenging, though measurable targets, which they proved had not only been met, but had been substantially exceeded.”
