Navtech Introduces Cost Effective COFDM-Based Digital Video Assist Solution

Navtech Systems, one of the UK's leading developers of video transmission solutions, has introduced the Rover wireless video link system.
It delivers high quality video images from mobile and remote cameras at around 25% of the cost of existing digital wireless video assist solutions.
The Rover system uses COFDM (Coded Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing), the digital technology commonly used in terrestrial TV broadcasting, and can delilver substantially higher levels of performance and functionality compared with analogue or uncoded Wi-Fi systems. Using JPEG2000 compression algorithms, it incorporates forward error-correction coding which makes transmissions immune to the effects of multipath interference and delivers high quality pictures.
Deployment is a quick and easy process as line of sight is not required, giving greater flexibility in terms of camera locations. In addition, the links work to an extended range of up to ten kilometres and, with a low latency of around 100mS, provide a near instant view of what is being filmed.
Phil Charles, Product Manager of Navtech Systems said: "The new low cost, COFDM-based Rover system provides a high quality digital link for the same price as analogue. Offering increased performance and easy deployment, we anticipate that the system will open up the market for video assist applications throughout the world."
