BBC joins forces with Research Centre to create new Producer Programme

The BBC has strengthened its partnership with the Glasgow-based Research Centre for Television and Interactivity, by creating a new year-long Series Producer Programme for BBC and independent producers.
Following the success of the three previous Executive Producer Programmes, which involved 31 in-house and independent producers from the Nations and Regions in monthly masterclasses, workshops and specialist training, the BBC has invested a further £100,000 into this new scheme to continue to help develop the next generation of series producer talent.
BBC Director of Nations and Regions Pat Loughrey is leading all of the BBC's Out of London initiatives, including the planning of the major move to Manchester.
Loughrey said: "This programme has proved its value in coaching and developing the expertise of a wide range of talented individuals.
"They've come from within the BBC and also from the independent production sector outside London, which is so vital to the future health and success of broadcasting.”
The Series Producer Programme will be run from Manchester for the first time.
It will include a range of high level master classes focusing on honing skills across areas including multi-platform production, understanding audiences and trends in technology, team leadership, managing talent and diversity.
The new programme is an evolution of the Executive Producer Programme, which has benefited 31 network producers since 2002 - eighteen from BBC centres in the Nations & Regions and thirteen from independent production companies outside London.
