METRO ECOSSE OPENS OFFICES IN GLASGOW
EQUIPMENT hire company Metro Ecosse are to open a Glasgow office in BBC Broadcasting House.
The facility will offer a range of Avids and digital outside broadcast cameras to both BBC programme makers and other broadcast companies. The BBC will benefit from discounted rates and non-BBC programme makers will benefit from the reduction in transportation costs and the support of BBC maintenance and engineering.
Metro has had a presence in Edinburgh for the past three and a half years, expanding from event staging hire to the broadcast market 18 months ago.
Regional Director Oscar Askin said: “We are the first to take the Scottish hire business seriously. Maybe it’s just timing but with the Scottish Parliament and healthy local programming our business is growing. We’ve invested heavily and that’s been recognised. The demands of the Scottish market can now be met without the need to transport kit from London.”
