New BBC Three Drama Announced
A new murder mystery series set in the Cook Islands has been announced by BBC Three.
Written by Richard Zajdlic, Tatau is co-produced by Touchpaper TV and New Zealand screen production company South Pacific Pictures for BBC Three and BBC America.
It follows Kyle Connor (Joe Layton) and Paul 'Budgie' Griffiths (Theo Barklem-Biggs), a pair of 20-somethings from London who decide to go travelling together.
When snorkelling in a lagoon, Kyle finds the body of a local girl, Aumea, tied up underwater - dead. But returning to the scene with with local police, he finds the corpse has disappeared. Kyle and Budgie become deeper and deeper involved in a world of Maori myths, symbols, and hallucinatory visions...
Richard Zajdlic, creator and writer of Tatau, and Rob Pursey are the executive producers for Touchpaper TV, John Barnett and Chris Bailey for South Pacific Pictures in New Zealand and Matthew Read for the BBC. John Rushton is producer and Wayne Yip is lead director.
