Custom Consoles Completes Large-Scale Module-R Furniture Project For AABC Kuala Lumpur

Custom Consoles has completed the second of two major contracts to supply studio furniture for Malaysia-based broadcaster Astro All Asia Networks.
Both orders were placed in partnership with UK-based systems integrator ATG Broadcast. The first was for a total of 30 desks installed in 2006 at Astro's Cyberjaya Broadcast Centre (CBC). The latest contract is for an additional 30 desks which have been installed at Astro's All Asia Broadcast Centre (AABC) at Kuala Lumpur. All 60 desks are from Custom Consoles' Module-R range.
Alan Pimm, ATG Broadcast Sales Director, commented: "Technical facilities at the two sites are almost identical in appearance and operation. This allows staff to work efficiently at either location and gives Astro a very high level of operational resilience. The AABC and CBC are both large-scale facilities capable of handling a very high number of channels. Custom Consoles' Module-R system enabled us to commission control desks that exactly matched the required configurations and dimensions without the high cost associated with individually customised furniture.

The newly installed Custom Consoles furniture at Astro's Kuala Lumpur premises includes three ingest control desks with VTR racks, two editing desks with 22 U acoustic rack, 10 compliance desks with divider screens, subtitling and ingest supervisor desks, a six-position transmission control desk, transmission supervisor desk, 13-position master control desk, four reactive-suite dual desks, four voiceover desks, a lines desk plus a large number of auxiliary fittings including 55 Ergotron adjustable monitor arms.
Custom Consoles' Module-R product range is a pick-and-mix control room furniture system combining aesthetically pleasing style with high durability. It enables robust, efficient and attractive control-room desks to be produced to meet specific needs from a selection of high-quality pods, base sections, 19-inch rack housings, worktops, end-panel modules and legs. The desk pods are available as single-bay sections with up to 10 U chassis capacity. Cabinet construction is in high-quality veneered MDF. Other features include continuous brush-strip cable access to front worktops. Recent additions to the range include new 19 inch rear-desk equipment pods, new front-access panels with increased ventilation and optional hardwood worktop buffers.
