Taio Cruz: Cruz-Ing High With Rushes And Flynn

UK post-production and special effects company Rushes is following the career of Taio Cruz closely.
Having completed post on the promo for "Come On Girl", featuring Luciana earlier this year and with his debut album "Departure" gaining critical acclaim, the 23-year-old is proving to be one to watch.
"Come On Girl" took the music and promo charts by storm, with over 1,000 plays during release, a staggering 61 hours of airplay! It's become one of the most shown videos in the UK this year so far, reaching No.1 in both The Box and MTV video charts.
Rushes also said that they will also be keeping a close eye on the director behind this hugely successful promo, Alex Herron (Alex also directed the promo for Basshunter's UK Number 1 "Now You're Gone" and said that they were delighted when he asked Rushes to collaborate with him and production company Flynn on "Come On Girl".
Alex is described as having "a very unconventional style and uses the full range of his creativity, enhancing the innovative and experimental approach of his work".
He enjoys working with actors and possesses a natural ability to bring out the best in them, as a "great listener and positive coach". Alex loves his work, and it is said of him that "for him, filmmaking is as natural as breathing".
Alex shot the promo for "Come On Girl" in LA and worked with Rushes' colourist Simone Grattarola.
Alex said: "We shot the Taio video in Los Angeles. One of the most important things for the artist was that the video moved. He really wanted a forward motion and a car chase that fit well. The reason we shot in LA was because of the size of downtown streets in the States; they give so much width and depth. And since the streets in Europe are so small, it was the natural choice.
"We did lose some shots I would have liked to see in the video. The original idea had sun in the concept and the use of flares, but this didn't happen because of marine layer and overcast at the same time. After a tough shoot we did end up with a video with a cool look and Simone brought out the best of the negative. One of the great things about Simone is that he adapts to the style that he is grading and gives it his own flavour. It comes down to a good eye, good taste and always wanting to push the project one step further."
And Rushes were thrilled to be asked to work with Alex again on the promo for Taio's most recent release "I Can Be" produced by Knut Inge Solbu for Babylon AS and shot in Oslo.
Simone and Alex have also just completed working together on the new Basshunter track "All I Ever Wanted", produced by Georgina Fillmore at Flynn.
