Media Links Signs Deal With Maredi Telecom & Broadcasting

Media Links, a leading provider of high-definition video transport solutions, has announced that it has signed a deal with Maredi Telecom & Broadcasting for it to represent the company as it further expands its business in South Africa. Maredi will supply Media Links’ entire product portfolio.
Media Links believes that its technology will be of particular benefit to the country and its backbone broadcast infrastructure as the nation continues to prepare for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Recently, the South African government awarded Johannesburg the right to host the International Broadcast Centre for the event. This will be the media nerve centre from which international broadcasters can receive transmissions from across the country during the tournament.
"We believe that our partnership with Maredi Telecom & Broadcasting will provide broadcast service suppliers across the country with the most efficient access to our proven, market leading technologies. With the combined expertise of the two companies, services providers can benefit from technology that not only raises the bar in terms of the quality of video transport possible but is also proven as highly cost-effective," said Takatsugu Ono, CEO Media Links.
Media Links has worked with a wide range of major sporting event organisers, including the FIFA World Cup 2006 and the 2006 Doha Asian Games, providing technologies that ensure the transport of HD and SD signals – compressed or uncompressed – are carried seamlessly and efficiently.
