Disney Channel Signs IPTV Programming Deal with Tiscali

Disney Channel has announced that it had signed an IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) deal to supply its three Disney branded channels - Disney Channel, Playhouse Disney and Disney Cinemagic to Tiscali TV subscribers.
From June 2007, leading kids TV brand, Disney Channel and pre school channel Playhouse Disney, will be available as part of Tiscali TV's Kids Pack and the family channel Disney Cinemagic, will be a stand alone premium subscription channel.
Tiscali TV subscribers will have the opportunity to view Disney Channel programmes such as the hit live action series Hannah Montana and Disney Channel Original Movies, including the global phenomenon and double Emmy award-winning High School Musical. For younger viewers, Playhouse Disney offers a range of preschool series such as the newly launched CG animation series, 'My Friends Tigger and Pooh'. Disney Cinemagic will offer Tiscali customers the first place on television to see Disneys latest animated films, such as 'The Incredibles' and 'Chicken Little' and other great Disney favourites like 'Lady and the Tramp'.
Rob Gilby, Managing Director of Disney Channel UK, Scandinavia and Emerging Markets, said: "Our mission is to ensure that our audience can engage with Disney Channel programming via as many platforms as possible. For this reason we are excited to be announcing this IPTV deal with Tiscali, to provide Disney Channels to more children and families.
Mary Turner, CEO Tiscali UK commented: We are delighted to add Disney's leading channels for kids and families to our portfolio. We are sure that these new channels will prove popular with subscribers and further enhance our quality TV offering.
This new agreement underlines Disney Channels commitment to new technologies.
Disney Channels continued expansion into alternative media platforms follows the recent anniversary of its strategic move into the Sky and Virgin Media basic packages and the successful impact on the channels performance, which has resulted in a 60% jump in audience share.
