Disney Channels Move Onto First HD Channel

Disney Channels EMEA have announced the launch of its first channel to be broadcast entirely in a high definition format.
Disney Cinemagic, the premium family movie channel, will broadcast in HD in France and other French speaking territories from Friday November 30 at 8.30pm.
At the forefront of innovation, Disney Cinemagic HD is one of the first channels to offer high definition quality to subscribers and the first children's and family HDTV channel in the French market. It will broadcast approximately 50% of films in native HD during the first year.
John Hardie, Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Disney Channels EMEA, commented: “Using cutting edge technology to help create and distribute outstanding content is at the heart of everything we do at Disney and we’re delighted to have launched our first high definition channel.
"Disney Cinemagic's focus on movies made it the ideal choice to the launch the HD format," he said.
After launching in the UK in March 2006, Disney Cinemagic has successfully expanded into France in September this year; it offers families a selection of the very best entertainment and movies from the Disney catalogue including The Wild and Cars throughout the day. Viewers will now be treated to the ultimate viewing experience every day from 6am to 1am - with unbeatable crystal clear picture quality, thanks to the HD format.
Disney Cinemagic HD will be exclusively launched by CANALSAT in France and it will be available on channel #197 to all subscribers to the platform's HD service which also subscribe to CANALSAT's Family Pack.
