New generation of IP Audio Codecs launched at IBC

An exciting new series of audio codecs that are designed to meet the needs of broadcasters will be unveiled at this year’s IBC exhibition by compression specialist APT.
Cost-effective and efficient, the ability to transport audio over IP is becoming increasingly sought after by radio and television networks and APT’s new generation of products will enable broadcasters to easily upgrade their contribution and distribution links.
“APT’s audio codecs have long been the preferred solution of many major broadcasters worldwide who recognise the quality and reliability of our equipment. With the launch of this new product range we aim to provide solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers, while retaining the exceptional audio quality and highly dependable DSP-based architecture for which we are renowned,” says Jon McClintock, Commercial Director. “This new generation of IP-based codecs will offer greater flexibility and interoperability than ever before both in terms of transport links and audio algorithms.”
The identity and feature set of the new product range remains a closely guarded secret pending the launch at IBC, but the new products in the range will include an IP-based stereo codec and a multi-algorithm, IP and X.21 codec.
This year’s IBC also sees the release of several new features on APT’s WorldNet Oslo audio multiplexer for Studio to Transmitter and studio networking links.
