IN-MOVIES SHORT FILM SCRIPT COMPETITION

THE OCTOBER 31 deadline for the in-movies.co.uk ‘short-film script’ competition launched at the Edinburgh Film Festival is fast approaching.
The company aims to find and fund a talented new filmmaker to shoot a ten minute short at the beginning of 2001.
Laurence Penn, Chief Executive of in-movies.co.uk, said: “Until now, short films have not yet been easily accessible and, as a result audiences are being denied the opportunity to watch some great films. in-movies.co.uk can change that.”
The winning script will be produced free of charge on 35mm film, courtesy of Kodak. The finished short will be entered into all major film festivals, as well s being screened on the in-movies website.
Entries for the competition will be judged by a panel including, Simone Horrocks, winner of the Panorama Short Film award and director of ‘The Man Who Cried’, with Johnny Depp.
In addition to the ‘short-film script’ competition, in-movies.co.uk are to commission fifty one-minute short films. Makers of the films chosen by in-movies.co.uk will win the funds to produce their project and the films will be screened on the site.
