HbbTV Association Adds Five New Members

The HbbTV Association has expanded its ranks with five additions — Admongrel, Konodrac, NIQ, TVekstra and wedotv — lifting total membership to 65. It marks the strongest intake in several years and underscores the early momentum behind the Association’s refreshed membership framework.

Drawn from audience measurement, data analytics, advertising technology and FAST channel services, the newcomers extend HbbTV's reach beyond its established base of broadcasters, smart TV makers and platform operators. Their arrival highlights growing acknowledgement of HbbTV’s open specifications as a foundation for advanced TV use cases spanning analytics, audience measurement and advertising, and for a wider spectrum of market participants.

The surge follows two new membership tiers approved at the General Assembly on 12 June 2026. Complementing Full Membership, these categories are intended to lower barriers to entry and welcome a broader community into the HbbTV ecosystem.

The Small Member category targets companies with annual revenues up to €3 million that are active and innovative in HbbTV. Small Members have access to all working groups and member resources and enjoy the same rights as Full Members, except for participation in the Steering Group.

The Associate Member category is aimed at organisations outside HbbTV’s traditional core that want to engage with the ecosystem via the new Application Interest Groups (AIGs). It suits firms focused on areas such as audience measurement, addressable advertising, or identity and consent. Associate Members can access all resources, use the HbbTV logo, and take part in — and chair — AIGs.
