iWedia Adds Edge AI Self-Healing And Broadband Telemetry To Teatro Pulse

iWedia has announced two enhancements to Teatro Pulse, its end-to-end TV service operations platform for telecom and Pay TV operators, introducing Edge AI-powered device self-healing for set-top boxes and broadband telemetry that extends service visibility into the home network.

The two additions are designed to address a common challenge for operators: identifying the cause of poor TV service and resolving issues before they result in lengthy support interactions, repeat contacts, unnecessary field visits or subscriber churn.

While operators can typically establish whether a set-top box is online, identifying why a subscriber's viewing experience is degraded can be more difficult. Traditional troubleshooting often requires support teams to collect device logs, interpret them manually and work through a series of diagnostic steps.

With the latest Teatro Pulse capabilities, intelligence can be applied directly on the device. Set-top boxes can detect abnormal behaviour, interpret their own diagnostic information and identify likely causes rather than simply returning raw log data.

The approach is intended to provide operators with actionable information and enable potential problems to be identified before subscribers report them. iWedia also plans to progress from intelligent assistance towards more autonomous operations, with automated issue resolution governed by policies defined by individual operators.

The company is also expanding Teatro Pulse beyond the set-top box through broadband telemetry. TV service issues can originate in several parts of the service chain, including the broadband connection, home Wi-Fi network, set-top box, TV peripherals or the television itself.

The new telemetry capabilities provide a consolidated view of the service path from the internet connection through to the TV screen. Support teams can use this information to identify where a problem is occurring, distinguish a degraded connection from an outage and confirm when service has been restored.

For operators, iWedia says the combination of the two capabilities can enable faster diagnosis during the first customer contact, reduce escalations and limit unnecessary home visits where the set-top box is not the source of the problem. It could also reduce the level of specialist knowledge required to resolve routine service issues.

"Operators have invested heavily in device management and telemetry over the last decade. The next challenge is not collecting more data, but turning it into decisions," said Nikola Teslic, CTO at iWedia. "Edge AI helps the device understand its own state. Broadband telemetry gives operators sight of everything around it. Together, they move device operations from reacting to subscriber complaints towards preventing them."

The enhancements form part of iWedia's wider End-to-End DTV Device Operations strategy, which connects software delivery, automated testing, deployment, device management and operational intelligence through a continuous lifecycle framework.

Teatro Pulse is one of three pillars of Teatro Factory, iWedia's software factory offering for telecom and Pay TV operators, alongside Teatro Cx and Teatro Test Lab.

iWedia will demonstrate its broadband telemetry capabilities and showcase its Edge AI approach to device operations at IBC 2026 in Hall 5, Stand 5.C75.
