Evolution Digital Chooses Softel's MediaSphere To Power Interactive Solutions For Cable Operators

Softel has announced that Denver-based Evolution Digital has become a licensed reseller of Softel's MediaSphere playout solutions. The company will use the MediaSphere product line to offer new interactive solutions to cable operators.
Evolution Digital has developed services based on a customised version of the Softel MediaSphere interactive TV playout system to send service and event information to Evolution's DTA and CableCard devices in subscriber locations. Evolution Digital will also use MediaSphere to provide software updates to subscriber devices in an MSO footprint.
Perfecto Martinez, Director of Engineering at Evolution Digital, said: "Our partnership with Softel allows us to enhance the creative and cost-effective solutions we offer to cable operators both today and in the future. The customised MediaSphere platform will allow cable operators to manage multiple networks containing mixed subscriber equipment from a single server, dramatically decreasing the total cost of ownership to deploy our solution. This solution will be offered in a pay-as-you-grow model, allowing cable operators to launch a few sites at first, but grow the system to manage many more as their business grows."
Sam Pemberton, Softel, CEO, said: "Our partnership with Evolution Digital allows us to support the delivery of interactive video services to an even broader audience. Softel's MediaSphere is already deployed in North America at more than 20 major operators, programmers and developers, delivering leading-edge iTV applications. Evolution Digital leverages new capabilities of the MediaSphere platform to deliver enhanced video services to a much larger number of cable operators in North America."
