Clear-Com Supports Musikal Perahu Kertas

Clear-Com has provided communications support for Musikal Perahu Kertas, a large-scale Indonesian musical theatre production adapted from the bestselling novel by Dee Lestari, through the deployment of its Eclipse HX and FreeSpeak II systems.

The production, presented by Trinity Entertainment Network in collaboration with Indonesia Kaya and the Trinity Youth Symphony Orchestra (TRUST), featured live orchestration, rapid scene changes and simultaneous backstage operations, requiring continuous coordination between multiple production teams.

To support those operational demands, Indonesia-based rental partner 86inc supplied and managed the communications infrastructure for the show using Clear-Com technology.

As technical lead for the production, 86inc designed and configured the intercom system to provide reliable communication across front-of-house, backstage areas, dressing rooms and the orchestra pit.

The deployment centred around Clear-Com’s Eclipse HX platform, selected for its scalability and ability to support multiple production departments simultaneously without interference. The system provided 10 dedicated communication channels, helping crews coordinate complex transitions and technical cues throughout the performance.

The configuration included an Eclipse HX MVX-A16 card for routing multiple outputs to the audio console, an E-IPA card with IP transceivers, more than 15 FreeSpeak II wireless beltpacks, and a V-Series panel positioned at front-of-house for show control operations.

According to the production team, the system delivered stable low-latency audio and reliable wireless coverage throughout the venue, including difficult backstage areas.

The communications setup also played an important role in maintaining safety during technically demanding sequences involving heavy stage equipment and frequent scene changes.

"This musical had many moving parts, including heavy equipment and frequent stage changes," said Oscar Yulius Joseph, Technical and Operational Manager at 86inc. "We knew how critical it is to coordinate crews safely and make sure cues between actors, lighting, and music happened at the right time."

Clear-Com said the project highlighted the importance of dependable communications systems in large-scale live productions where multiple technical teams must operate simultaneously under tight timing constraints.
