New battery and powering options for HHB Portadisc released

HHB have released a new rechargeable battery pack and intelligent charger for Portadisc, the company’s dependable, high-performance MD recorder.
The MDPBP is a robust NiMH battery pack that powers the Portadisc for approximately three and half hours. As a single, sealed unit, the MDPBP does not suffer the problems that can occur with caddies containing individual AA sized cells, in which batteries can be inserted incorrectly, or rechargeable and alkaline batteries may be inadvertently combined.
Designed and engineered for the most demanding conditions, the MDPBP is both short circuit and temperature protected, with all internal metal contacts securely welded for long-term reliability.
The ACS110 is a microprocessor-controlled charger specifically developed for use with the MDPBP battery pack, providing intelligent monitoring and controlled charging. Taking just three hours to fully charge an MDPBP battery pack, one ACS110 charger and two MDPBPs are all that are required to supply a Portadisc with continuous battery power. Additional ACS110 features include a Discharge function for effective management of the MDPBP pack, and comprehensive LED metering of the charging functions.
Commenting on the new battery pack and charger, HHB Technical Manager, Henry Edwards, said: "The new MDPBP and ACS110 will enable journalists and facility managers to rationalise their equipment and reduce the risks associated with AA-sized batteries. With many thousands of Portadiscs in regular use around the world, we are committed to the continued development of the system, ensuring that Portadisc remains the most flexible and reliable portable MD recording solution."
Aware that the Portadisc delivers professional, portable audio recording at an affordable price, HHB has priced the new battery pack and charger very competitively at just £42 Ex. VAT for the MDPBP, and £38 Ex. VAT for the ACS110.The standard battery caddie and charger will continue to be supplied with the Portadisc as a no-cost accessory.
The MDPBP battery pack can be charged in the Portadisc by the standard charger, however this takes significantly longer than using the ACS110.
