Profuz LAPIS Powerfully Masters AI-Choreographed Workflow Symphony At IBC2025

News Image
European developer Profuz Digital will present at IBC Stand 8.A88, the latest additions in the powerful AI-enabled Profuz LAPIS digital media asset management system. Profuz LAPIS is more than just another digital media asset management system that integrates AI—it is a sophisticated orchestration platform that coordinates AI-powered tasks in powerful symphony.

Instead of simply running different AI engines independently, LAPIS skilfully strategises an organisation’s entire workflow by distributing and coordinating tasks across multiple AI processing engines, creating an efficient masterpiece.

Traditional AI-powered media asset management systems tend to treat AI engines as separate tools, resulting in a more fragmented outcome that requires time-consuming manual intervention. LAPIS, however, harmonises AI capabilities into a unified workflow, where data is processed in layers and enriched at every stage. LAPIS brings cumulative benefits rather than working in isolation, so that each AI engine’s output enhances overall results. LAPIS combines data from multiple sources — such as speech recognition paired with face detection in order to create richer and more accurate insights.

Already adopted by many organisations such as Canal+ France, Council of Europe, Bulgarian National Radio and others, Profuz LAPIS delivers a revolutionary solution to the industry, loaded with every tool and feature required to manage multiple TV channels. It is designed to organise media assets that include movies, documentaries, series, clips, and promotions for categorisation, advanced searching, filtering, meta data tagging and sorting, by effortlessly providing centralised, secure, and reliable efficiency in one powerful elegant solution, streamlining workflows and boosting productivity.

As an example, the Council of Europe already relies on Profuz LAPIS to conduct a wide variety of tasks such as content ingest, storage, and advanced media library searches, using its AI capabilities to further accelerate creative workflows and automate experience delivery at scale. With Profuz LAPIS working within the Cloud, it has enabled the Council of Europe to streamline its workflows and operations, allowing for numerous speaker session recordings in several languages, at various resolutions.

The head of innovation at the Council of Europe, Alain Mielle said: "We have been very impressed with the functionalities and performance of Profuz LAPIS as our Media Asset Management platform. In our opinion it is the 'Rolls Royce" platform of this industry sector, offering a competitive and attractive price tag. It is not a run of the mill digital asset AV management system, as it offers so much more in terms of functionality and features, and we have seen significant productivity gains and positive user feedback."

New additions in Profuz LAPIS to be presented at IBC2025 include the new 'Multi-AI Processing Integration' feature that seamlessly manages the correlation of various AI engines for the purposes of transcription, translation, object detection, face recognition and more. The LAPIS system delivers optimised performance by distributing workloads efficiently, LAPIS minimises processing time while maximising accuracy, ensuring that organisations can work faster and smarter.

In addition, LAPIS now features 'Smart Task Distribution' which means it does not need to rely on one single AI engine, but instead, analyses the nature of each task and assigns it to the most suitable available engine. For example, 'speech-to-text' tasks may be directed to a particular specialised engine, while another engine might manage complex translations. An illustration of how the Smart Task Distribution works in LAPIS is that it selects the most suitable engine based on metrics such as language, category, genre and so forth. An English comedy series handled by one engine, while at the same time, a Dutch science documentary managed by another is a working example in play. Confidential material is selected and managed sensitively too in LAPIS with appropriate engines chosen for in-house processing, and others for cloud engines.

Other new features and capabilities added to the LAPIS system since NAB2025 to be showcased at IBC include - subtitle translation with intelligent time slot management; voice synthesis obtained from timed texts; speaker identification within speech-to-text; multiple optional servers for AI and media processing such as transcription, translation, object detection, face recognition, text extraction, conversion, transcoding and others, that include intelligent distribution of tasks. Other functionalities include volume meter and slow motion control tools in the media player, image, audio and text file editors and a brand new timeline media editor and more.
