Tightrope Media Systems Named Top Workplace

For the second consecutive year, Tightrope Media Systems has been named a Top Workplace by the Star Tribune.

The Minneapolis-based newspaper recognised 310 employers in the Twin Cities and across Minnesota in 2025, and Tightrope ranked among the top dozen workplaces in the small business (50-149 employees) category. Tightrope was also recognised with a special award from the Star Tribune for its work/life flexibility.

JJ Parker, co-founder and CEO of Tightrope Media Systems, said the recognition reflects a conscious effort by the entire organisation, not just leadership, to create a positive work environment. "That's all of us coming together and deciding as a group: This is the way we like to work," he said. "We value autonomy, we value freedom of time, and we value responsibility."

Tightrope is the parent company of Carousel Digital Signage, known for its content management software for digital signage systems, MediaScribe, a real-time captioning and translation solution for government meetings, and Cablecast Community Media, which provides a platform for government access channels to distribute video programming across cable channels, websites, and mobile and OTT platforms. The company also offers PEGMedia, an open media exchange for community media organisations.

Top Workplaces awards are based solely on employee feedback from the Energage Workplace Survey, which measures different aspects of the workplace experience. A minimum of a 35% response rate from employees is required for organisations to be considered for the employer recognition program. Energage partners with dozens of media outlets across the United States, including the Star Tribune, for regional Top Workplaces awards.
