AEQ CAPITOL IP 12 Console Boosts Technical Training

City of Glasgow College, one of the Scottish city's leading higher education institutions, has established itself as the largest technical college in the country.
Founded in 2010 after the merger of Central College, Glasgow Metropolitan College and Glasgow College of Nautical Studies, the centre has two campuses where more than 27,000 students are trained in a wide range of academic offerings.
As part of an ambitious technological upgrade, the technical management of the City of Glasgow College has started the renovation of its main training studio in Glasgow. In this space, key to practical teaching in the area of broadcasting, highlights the incorporation of cutting-edge digital technology provided by the Spanish company AEQ. At the heart of the system is the ultra-compact AEQ CAPITOL IP 12 mixing console, which acts as the hub for all signals produced in the studio. This environment serves as a platform for the practical training of the ONAIR radio module, included in the Television, Radio and Broadcasting, Creative Industries program.
AEQ CAPITOL IP 12 console, the backbone of the new City of Glasgow College studio, is a high-performance digital mixing console with a fixed 12-fader control surface. Its architecture incorporates IP connectivity via an integrated module that allows 16 input and 16 output channels, all managed from a single core. One of the most outstanding features of this system is its versatility in connectivity: it offers up to 4 mic/line inputs, 12 analog, 4 stereo digital AES/EBU (AES3), 2 stereo digital USB, plus optional telephone lines and multichannel digital links. It also supports 16 AoIP channels via Ethernet connectors or up to 64 MADI channels via fibre optic input, making it a compact but high-performance solution for educational and professional environments.
The AEQ CAPITOL console has gained popularity in educational institutions around the world, thanks to its balance between advanced technology and ease of use. Its design combines state-of-the-art digital features with IP connectivity, delivering performance that meets the latest industry demands. Intuitive operation and a particularly robust construction make it the ideal choice for training environments. In these studios, where future technicians, operators and journalists begin to familiarise themselves with the real dynamics of the professional world, the CAPITOL is positioned as a key tool in the learning process.
With this technological renovation, the City of Glasgow College reinforces its commitment to excellence in training, relying on practical environments that faithfully reproduce industry standards. The incorporation of solutions such as the CAPITOL IP 12 console not only improves the quality of teaching, but also prepares students to meet the challenges of today’s professional environment.
