Pro-Bel announce launch of Morpheus at NAB

Pro-Bel has today announced the full launch of Morpheus, a revolutionary, fourth-generation automation system.
With Morpheus, Pro-Bel has taken automated playout back to the drawing board and designed an architecture that not only supports advanced playout of conventional content, but a wide range of multi-media and data-based material.
Morpheus introduces new concepts in user interfaces and a scalable object orientated event structure. At the core of Morpheus is the "Media Ball" concept, a technology allowing complex sequences of events to be packaged together, instantly providing a simple presentation for the operator and easy manipulation within a schedule. Media Ball also facilitates the introduction of enhanced content to operations where the business and traffic systems may not natively support the new types of material or programming.
Neil Maycock, Pro-Bel’s Chief Technical Officer explained: "With interactive content, the broadcast schedule is no longer a linear list of programmes, the simplest interaction makes the viewing experience non-linear. In the editing world we had a major revolution, moving from linear editing systems to non-linear operations. We now face a similar transition in playout automation. The demanding requirements of this new ‘non-linear’ style of broadcast cannot be met with a few enhancements to traditional playout systems. We believe Morpheus is the only platform that can effectively address these challenges today.”
According to Pro-Bel, Morpheus brings new levels of intelligence to the sharing of playout devices and transmission resources between channels, using sophisticated management software and the ability to dynamically allocate playout channels to different operator positions.
Morpheus is based on a Microsoft.Net backbone, which is used to provide network resilience and automatic failover in the event of hardware or network problems.
