GatesAir To Unveil New Intraplex Solution At IBC

News Image
GatesAir is to introduce its latest Intraplex Audio over IP transport technology solution at IBC 2018 in Amsterdam, 14-18 September.

The software-defined innovation will be GatesAir's first Intraplex system to live on a COTS x86 server, and directly addresses the convergence of broadcast operations with IT infrastructure. It also provides broadcasters with a highly scalable, redundant and cloud-based transport platform for multichannel contribution and distribution.

The integration of multichannel Audio over IP transport into a facility's IT infrastructure offers several tangible benefits for broadcasters and network operators. The platform first streamlines installation and management by removing the need for many separate codecs and auxiliary hardware components, freeing multiple equipment racks in enterprise-level facilities.

Furthermore, the highly scalable solution, which is compatible with AES67 and Dante on the studio side, will allow users to manage many Secure Reliable Transport (SRT) streams on a centralised cloud platform – an industry-first in Audio over IP networking for broadcasters. SRT is a low-latency open source media streaming protocol which provides packet encryption and re-transmission capabilities for reliability and security.

To further strengthen stream robustness and reliability, GatesAir is additionally integrating Dynamic Stream Splicing (DSS), an Intraplex technology that diversifies data across redundant networks to SRT. The addition of DSS to SRT will add additional protection against certain types of packet losses and complete network failures.

"As broadcast and IT convergence accelerates, the industry is in need of solutions that cleanly integrate into the IT infrastructure and implement secure, reliable transport across wide-area networks," said Keyur Parikh, Vice President and General Manager, Intraplex Product Line. "Broadcast networks will now have a simple platform to manage many channels coming in and out of the studio or headend that runs on a single, highly-redundant, multi-core server, versus maintaining multiple racks of hardware codecs. Additionally, our SRT capability increases stream security and reliability through re-transmission of lost packets and payload encryption. The added value of Dynamic Stream Splicing, a proven technology used worldwide in IP Link codecs today, will arguably create the industry's most robust and reliable Audio over IP transport platform."

GatesAir will also use IBC as the European debut for two Intraplex intelligent IP network solutions introduced at the 2018 NAB Show:

• IPConnect is an IP networking gateway that employs a combination of packet protection schemes, network/time diversity and packet-level forward error correction to solve the problem of reliable data transport and packet loss across complex networks.
• IP Link 200A is a AES67-compliant codec that combines audio encoding and decoding with optional built-in GPS for tightly synchronised single-frequency networking operations.

The GatesAir Intraplex IP Link product family also includes LiveLook software for analysing and monitoring all of the streams being transported on an IP network, and generating reports and graphs to illustrate real-time and historical performance. GatesAir's family of Intraplex IP Link products can be used with any transmitter on the market, making their deployments even more flexible and accessible to broadcasters worldwide.

GatesAir will demonstrate its solutions at Stand 8.D60 from 14-18 September at the RAI Amsterdam.
