PlayBox Technology To Celebrate Product Delivery Milestone At BroadcastAsia

News Image
PlayBox Technology is set to celebrate a huge company milestone at BroadcastAsia 2018, 26-28 June, with its 18,000th product delivery.

Playbox Technology will exhibit on stand 4J3-01 and will be represented by by CEO Pavlin Rahnev, Asia Pacific general manager Desmon Goh, sales manager Iulian Ionescu and colleagues from the company's Asia Pacific offices.

"This is real landmark year confirming the sustained success of our server-based Neo channel-in-a-box product series and our software-as-a-service CloudAir," Desmon Goh commented. "A particularly encouraging trend is the growing popularity of hybrid systems leveraging the on-site accessibility of AirBox Neo with the CloudAir's fast and operationally simple expandability. The combination is particularly advantageous for network managers organising and supervising 'red-button' services to support specific events or programme series lasting just a few days or weeks. CloudAir is also powering an increasing number of round-the-clock primary channels, allowing extra storage and extra facilities to be incorporated without taking up space in the customer's onsite apparatus room."

"Among recently introduced CloudAir features are a transcoder capable of handling multiple file wrappers and formats including MPEG PS/TS, MXF, QT, AVI, MP4, GXF, MPG2, H.264, ProRes, DNX HD and MJPEG," added Iulian Ionescu. "Also on show will be improved playlist editing, advanced playlist export to electronic programme guides and automated linking of stored assets."

The latest addition to the Neo product range is Neo TS Time Delay, a 1U IP-based delay server providing fully transparent delay of IP transport streams such as DVB/ATSC MPEG broadcast-quality compressed video and audio. Designed for broadcasters operating across multiple time zones, it integrates fully with the PlayBox Neo product family and offers a wide range of timing options which can be assigned to a single administrator or specified operators.

Neo TS Time Delay can be configured with multiple input channels plus multiple delayed outputs. Each input also has a zero-delay output. Operating parameters are easily adjusted via an integral web-based user interface, including channel-specific time delay in 15 second increments. Maximum delay duration depends on input bit rate and storage capacity.

Additional features include programme information display of MPEG-compliant transport streams plus automatic error logging. Like all elements of the PlayBox Technology Neo product series, Neo TS Time Delay can be configured for single-unit operation or twinned for use in main and backup modes.
