SignaSys CTO to speak at SMPTE

SignaSys have announced that CTO Mark Brown is scheduled to present a paper at the Society of Motion Picture Television Engineers (SMPTE) annual national Technical Conference.
Brown's presentation falls during the 'Networking in a Media Environment' session scheduled on the first day of the conference, Wednesday November 12 from 2:30 - 5:30pm.
Brown's presentation, titled 'Content from Anywhere: a Case Study of Store & Forward Field Systems', addresses how file-based Store & Forward (S&F) holds the promise of increased competitiveness, cost effectiveness, and notable operational efficiencies. As such, S&F systems are being deployed for a broad range of applications most notably the broadcast newsgathering and production markets. This presentation focuses on the application of portable field based S&F systems supporting the acquisition side of the broadcast news industry.
Specific areas of discussion include; A technical system overview from content acquisition to editing and metadata creation, transport, and media handling in the plant; Integral software applications and compression tools that make this technology a reality; Broader range applications, including an investigation of live field environments; And an operational case study that demonstrates practical application of these technologies.
